History of Lower Duden Waterfall

Because it flows underground, this waterfall from the Düden River is known by this name. In the past, the Düden River was known as Katarrhaktes. Despite being only 15 km long, it is one of the major rivers in the Mediterranean region. The river’s water originates from underground springs 40 kilometres distant.

In a location known as Düdenbaş, the water rises to the surface and stays there until it reaches the sea. The Upper Düden Waterfall and the Lower Düden Waterfall are the two Düden Waterfalls.

Things to Do at the Lower Duden Waterfall

Knowing that the Lower Duden Waterfall is also known as Karpuzkaldran elalesi, which translates to “the watermelon lifter waterfall,” is noteworthy given that the region’s name is Karpuzkaldran.

In Antalya, there are two waterfalls with the same name, Düden. This waterfall emerges from a natural formation near Karpuzkaldran and empties water from the Düden River, one of the biggest rivers in southern Anatolia, into the sea. There are other waterfalls on the cliffs that are identical to this one, but this one is more stunning and draws more tourists.

From adjacent Düden Park, you can view the lovely waterfall. It includes a viewing terrace that offers a unique perspective of the waterfall. This terrace is a wide, lovely green space for guests rather than a place for recreation. It also has a parking lot, a picnic area, and a cafeteria. A well-known attraction in Antalya is breakfasting at one of the eateries perched on the summit with a view of the waterfall.
