Yildiz Can, the pioneer of the ‘Women Caravanners’ cluster, which stops in the Manavgat district of Antalya, one of the places frequented by caravan tourism that has developed in Turkey in recent years, has travelled throughout Turkey with her 5 square metre caravan, ‘Free Polar Star,’ for the past eight years. Can, who has been travelling alone for two years, expressed his gratitude by saying, “The caravan is actually a way of life that reminds you how little you need. I recommend it to women who love travel and feel ready for minimal life.”

Yildiz Can, a former nurse who has gone to Georgia, Iran, and many cities in Turkey, arrived in Manavgat in his 5-square-meter caravan known as the ‘Free North Star.’ Can mentioned that he enjoys Manavgat and is pleased to be camping there. “I’ve been traveling with a friend for four years before. I have been traveling alone for the last two years.”

Can revealed that he started a Facebook group named “Women Caravanners” around two years ago in response to regular inquiries about the location of family and friends while on the road.

“When I was traveling across Turkey, my friends were saying to me, ‘Where are you Star’, ‘What are you doing’, ‘We are worried about you Star’. So I started a band. At first, I signed up 10 of my friends. Then I invited some more of my caravanning friends. The group now has more than 20,000 people. 5-6 thousand of them are our female members who are actively traveling in caravans.”

Only women are allowed to join the group, according to Can. Some of your pals are reaching out to assist you. To me, the mass states: “I have a house, come be my guest, let’s do your laundry, get some electricity, then rest and go.” Everyone’s making suggestions that help each other. I think the most important feature of our group is that it involves serious female solidarity.”

“My father used to take us on trips all the time. We used to drive all kinds of cars. I’d say, ‘When I grow up, I’m going to buy a big car, fill it with my whole family and drive around.’ I was dreaming of a caravan from then on, not knowing that the source of this dream was called a caravan elsewhere. I only have female friends who live in trailers. They closed their house, their children grew up. They’d rather travel living in a trailer than live a lonely life, and they’re very happy. Caravan life is a minimal world. It means making a lot of roads with very little stuff. The caravan is actually a way of life that reminds you how little you need. I recommend it to women who love travel and feel ready for minimal life.”
