Sultanahmet Square, also known as Hippodrome Square, is surrounded by prominent landmarks and overlooks the Blue Mosque. In addition, there are other museums, including the Museum of Turkish Islamic Art. Due to its exquisite beauty and vastness, the Sultanahmet district is one of Istanbul’s most recognized tourist attractions, and it is also a popular place to begin tourist journeys. This square, like the ancient peninsula that links to all of the historical structures around it, is a highly impressive tourist location in Sultanahmet district.

The Egyptian Stone Column

One of history’s secrets is the obelisk or stone pillar that was brought from Egypt in 390, and archaeologists have yet to discover and read the riddle of the tablets etched on these pillars. These obelisks can be seen all over the world. From Argentina to Italy, and even Sultanahmet Square, there’s something for everyone! The Egyptian king built this stone pillar in 1450 BC. If you visit this column, you will be standing in front of one of Istanbul’s oldest structures.

Istanbul Archaeological Museum

The Istanbul Archaeological Museum houses a significant collection of prehistoric antiquities from Greece, Rome, and Byzantium, which are presented in a stunning manner. The whole Topkapi Palace collection has been moved to the Museum. After touring the museum, take a stroll around Gulhane Park, which was formerly an Ottoman king’s garden. The garden is spread out over large green grounds with flowers, tulips, and tall trees.

Blue Mosque

In Istanbul’s Sultanahmet Square, the Blue Mosque is one of the most important mosques and tourist attractions. Sultan Ahmed I built this mosque in the seventeenth century, between 1603 and 1617. The stunning and eye-catching Iznik tiles utilized in the mosque’s interior decor inspired the name. This mosque is a beautiful example of Islamic architecture and one of Istanbul’s most popular tourist attractions. When visiting this mosque, remember to dress appropriately so that you do not have to utilize the mosque’s general covering.

7 Days Blue Cruise Turkey Tour

Serpent Column

This column was brought to Istanbul from Delphi, Greece, and is one of Istanbul’s most distinctive structures. As a symbol of Greece’s victory over the Persians, this spiral column was built from melted enemy military equipment. This pillar was given to the Delphi Apollo Monument as a gift after the victory in this war to convey their gratitude for this location. Three interwoven snakes with their heads cut off can be found on this blue pillar.

Hagia Sophia

The Hagia Sophia, regarded as one of the outstanding architectural examples in the world, will definitely astonish you both inside and out. It is the eighth wonder of the world, according to the Turks, albeit this claim is a little overdone. In truth, this structure had a nickname during the Roman Empire since it was the world’s largest church at the time. When the Ottomans took over, it was converted into a mosque, and when the Republic of Turkey was established, Ataturk ordered the Hagia Sophia to be turned into a museum for many years.

Sultanahmet Square is one of the most famous tourist destinations; you’ll normally find the most eager visitors around this square on their first day in Istanbul.

Istanbul’s lovely image comprises both historical sites and landmarks, with enormous minarets and skyscrapers and squares covering the skyline. Historic and Bosphorus peninsula gives wonderful city views. And after exploring Istanbul from the ground level, it is an excellent opportunity to go up and admire the city from above. There are many fantastic spots and views from mediaeval towers, mosques and palaces to rooftop terraces and woodlands and hilltops that enjoy a panoramic view of Istanbul. Let’s spotlight those spots as the best view of Istanbul.

Galata Tower

It is also feature of Istanbul’s skyline, not merely one of Istanbul’s most popular landmarks. The Galata Tower provides a spectacular 360° panorama of the city. During the sunset, as Istanbul shows off really, is the finest time to visit. Make sure that because of possible large waiting lines you come earlier. The 9-story Galata Tower has an unquestionable view point, because it had been built by the Genoese in 1348 and utilized as a tower for the surveillance of Ottoman fires.

Halic Bridge

Halic Bridge, the best view of Istanbul, is positioned in the ‘Golden Horn,’ a bridge and metro station. You will appreciate where the name comes from when you visit just before sunset. Follow the bridge for a walk and watch the ferry boats. Or just enjoy the wonderful view on the underground. Haic bridge, literally, is considered the best view of Istanbul.

5 Days Turkey Tour – Istanbul Antalya Tour

Camlica Hill

Camlica Hill, the appreciable and best view of Istanbul, is situated on the Asian side of Istanbul in a wonderful tourist and leisure region. Camlica Hill offers excellent city views. The highest peak is 265 metres above sea level and offers the greatest view of Istanbul. You can also enjoy your view in a number of cafes and restaurants. Address: Classic, Kısıklı, Touristic Office Çamlıca Cd.

Maiden’s Tower

The Maiden’s Tower, which is positioned right on the Bosphorus, is an important landmark of Istanbul. Legend has it that a sultan has put his daughter into the tower to guard her from a projected death prophecy. You can now visit the Tower from Üsküdar on the Asian side using a tiny boat. The tower now attracts visitors to the famous Bosphorus and if it is a little recognisable, it was featured in two James Bond flicks The World is Not Enough and From Russia With Love. The tower is nowadays not enough.

Pierre Loti Hill

Pierre Loti Hill, one of the top Istanbul viewpoints, is a major tourist and recreational attraction of the Istanbul Golden Horn region. Pierre Loti Hill gives visitors amazing views. The mountain is approximately 55 m from the sea. Enjoy your tea or Turkish coffee in Pierre Loti and have a good time in the Golden Horn. Pierre Loti Hill is a terrific activity.

Topkapi Palace

The many vistas overlooking the Golden Horn, the old harbour in Istanbul, are thanks greatly to its position at the Seraglio Point. Whilst the historic palace was erected by Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror in 1478 would take more than one day to visit, do not go without falling into the restaurant of the Konyali Lokantasi, with the terrace seating overlooking the Bosphorus in the direction of Russia.

Yldz ale, constructed as a hunting lodge for Sultan Abdül Hamit II in 1880 and inaccessible to the public at the time of investigation, is located at the park’s highest point. The şale (chalet) is surrounded by a wall at the top of the hill. In 1889, it was enlarged and renovated for the use of Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, and in 1898, it was extended again to accommodate a large ceremonial hall. Abdül Hamit grew so devoted to his ‘rustic’ creation after his imperial visitor left that he opted to live here himself, foregoing the palaces of Dolmabahçe and raan on the Bosphorus shore.

Yıldız Park Location

Yldz Park, one of the best places to visit in Istanbul, is Istanbul’s largest grove, located between Besiktas and Ortaköy, directly across from the Sultan Palace. Between the Security Directorate and the Mecidiye Mosque is an entry on Raan Street, while the higher entrance is on Palanga Street in the top portion of Barbaros Street. Car access is possible from both entrances, although only in front of the kiosks in the car park in front of the little car park is my recommendation.

The most convenient way to get there is to walk from the Beşiktaş dock to the Raan entrance. The location of Yldz Park and the kiosks within it can be seen on the map below.

Yıldız Park Map

5 Days Turkey Tour – Istanbul Antalya Tour

Things to Do in Yildiz Park

With its various trees and season-specific flowers, Yldz Park is green and vibrant throughout the year. Yildiz Park is for you if you enjoy natural walks but can’t get away from Istanbul. Because of the rugged terrain, you can literally go hiking here. With the recent landscaping in the park, there were waterfalls, suspension bridges, and vehicle-free walkways, and it truly became a world-class park.

The Malta Köşkü, now an unauthorized restaurant and event centre, is located 500 metres past the turn-off to Yldz ale. Abdül Hamit jailed his brother Murat V, whom he ousted in 1876, in this structure built in 1870. The patio, as well as the upstairs dining room with its beautiful ceiling and chandelier, have views of the Bosphorus.

After 10 minutes of strolling past the Malta Köşkü, you will arrive at the Yldz Porselen Fabrikas. This factory is housed in a magnificent structure created by Raimondo D’Aronco, an Italian architect who is credited with introducing the art nouveau style to Istanbul.

8 Days Turkey Tour Package

Yıldız Şale Museum

The National Palaces owns the Yldz ale Museum. Despite its location within Yldz Park, the museum’s entrance should be counted among the Stars Palace structures. In 2018, the entrance cost is 20 TL, and the Museum Card is not acceptable.
